New paper in Journal of Environmental Economics and Management by Grischa Perino
In their paper 'Does more stringent environmental regulation induce or reduce technology adoption? When the rate of technology adoption is inverted U-shaped' Grischa Perino (CSERGE) and Till Requate (University of Kiel, Germany) show that for many abatement technologies the adoption incentives are non-monotonic in the stringency of environmental policy. Once environmental regulation becomes sufficiently stringent, adoption incentives and hence diffusion rates are decreasing in stringency.
